Tregurtha and Middleton top British GT qualifying again

HHC Motorsport duo Will Tregurtha and Stuart Middleton swept to their second British GT pole position of the season at Silverstone on Saturday, driving the championship-leading #55 Ginetta G55 GT4.

With just a single three-hour race on Sunday, pole for this round went to the crew with the fastest combined time across both drivers’ qualifying sessions. The 2016 Ginetta Junior title rivals set lap times only tenths apart, allowing them to edge out the challenge of McLaren pair Ciaran Haggerty and Sandy Mitchell for the coveted grid slot.

Elsewhere in GT4, the efforts of Lanan Racing’s pairing of Alex Reed and David Pittard sees the #51 car line up sixth for Sunday’s race.

Earlier in the day, the first free practice session saw Bradley Ellis got his and Ade Barwick’s weekend off to a perfect start by topping the GT4 in the #46 Optimum Motorsport G55, which is making a one-off return to the championship this weekend. The pair went on to qualify ninth in GT4 for Sunday’s race.

In GT3, Charlie Robertson and Aleksander Schjerpen qualified 10th in the Century Motorsport G55 GT3 on the car’s return to the class. The #19 entry had earlier demonstrated its pace by finishing third-fastest overall in the second free practice session.
